CEO
Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico

Alma Frontera is a transformative executive leader with over two decades of experience across the sports, entertainment, communications, and nonprofit sectors. She currently serves as CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico (BGCPR), leading a team of more than 530 professionals and programs that impact over 19,500 children, youth, and families annually.

Her career began in the world of live events and logistics, and she also worked both in front of and behind the camera as a sports analyst, writer, and producer. Alma has collaborated with top brands and organizations—including Hilton, SMG (Coliseo de Puerto Rico), Univision, Coca-Cola, Sony, and Peroni Brewery—supporting large-scale productions, rebranding initiatives, and new business development.

Following Hurricanes Irma and María, Alma coordinated over 230 missions with 500 volunteers and distributed more than $2 million in private emergency aid during the first months after the disaster. She later led multimillion-dollar economic development initiatives at Foundation for Puerto Rico, funded by over $50 million in private and federal grants, strengthening thousands of businesses and nonprofits across the island. She also worked with Secretary Manuel Cidre at the Puerto Rico Department of Economic Development and Commerce. In 2021, she was named one of Caribbean Business’s 40 Under 40.

At BGCPR, Alma is driving strategic growth, community partnerships, and youth development initiatives that elevate education, sports, wellness, and workforce readiness across 25 service centers. Her work centers on expanding opportunities for young people to thrive—on the field, in the classroom, and in life.

She serves on the Board of Women Empowered (WE), is a founding member of the Puerto Rico Sustainable Development Council, and participates in the Partnership for Modern Puerto Rico’s Beyond Cohort. Alma is also a former YMCA Board member.

A passionate advocate for gender equality in business and sports, she champions mentorship, inclusive leadership, and pathways for young women to lead with confidence. Her early experience as a cheer and dance coach, teacher, and National Student Leadership Conference instructor continues to shape her commitment to youth development.

Alma holds a degree from the University of Puerto Rico and is the proud mother of a three-year-old daughter, Alma Sofía.
